EASTER - 2026
EASTER COLOUR PLAY!
Our goal is to knit many swatches in different colours while keeping our visual design elements in mind, and we are passionate about supporting other small businesses where possible.
Here are some ideas that can help you in your colour selection process, and valuable tips for your next project.
IS THERE A LIMIT TO WHAT YARN I CAN USE FOR OGE’S PATTERNS?
There are many reasons why we will advise using the same materials as per the pattern listing, and some of which are very specific to the development of our designs.
Testing the yarn by knitting swatches is necessary for the careful process of designing a garment, which involves determining its fall. It is also another reason why we often suggest using the materials specified in the pattern.
We like to consider how the yarn is spun, the weight of the yarn, and the blend. When designing a knitting pattern, we take into account many factors that can influence the stretch, drape, and fit of the body.

HOW TO AVOID FEELING OVERWHELMED WITH COLOUR CHOICES
A
Allow – Let the colour to speak to you. If you cannot resist a colour in a yarn store, then it is necessary to create with that colour for a reason, a feeling, or a purpose. Enjoy the process.
V
Visual – Take a look at the season trends (Autumn, Winter, Spring Summer). Your local yarn store is likely to stock the latest trends for the season.
O
Observe - The nursery colour theme is a trend. Why not add to the theme and work on their wardrobe as well?
I
Instagram - Our Instagram page is where you can see how yarn colours enhance our designs, and you can also find many of our knitters at #ogeknitweardesigns.
D
Dabble - Play with different colours by working a tension square. It's simple to understand how different colours can improve the texture in a design.

OUR TIP OF THE MONTH!
We recommend that you refer to the pattern listing.
You can find the details listed under ‘MATERIALS REQUIRED’.
Yarn amounts are approximate only, as there are so many variations added to the equation, that yarn predictions can’t ever be 100% accurate.
If the yarn is discontinued, or you are looking for a substitute, you can match the yarn specs by following the link below to Yarn Sub:
